Questions

What are we here for?

Why are we placed on this earth? Why are we given Books to guide us? Why are there so many oppressions going on in this world, today and in the past?

What are we to do?

Do our actions mean something? Will we make a difference? Can a small action really make a big difference? Or is it just a rhetoric that people repeat in order to convince others to take certain actions?

Is it really true that to see change in the world, we must start with ourselves? Why not others start first, and then we'll decide whether or not we'll follow suit?

Can we actually solve the problems in this world? Or are we just fiddling with solutions and pray that one of them would work?

Does talking about problems contribute to solving them? Or is it just a waste of time?

Will we ever understand why things happen the way they do? Why don't we get what we wish for? Is it because we aren't worth it?

So many questions often arise in our mind that could be answered with one verse:

[He] who created death and life to test you [as to] which of you is best in deed - and He is the Exalted in Might, the Forgiving (Quran 67:2)

This worldly life is a test for us - the ease, the pains, the joys, the sufferings - all of these are meant to test us.

When faced with joy, are we going to realize that this is a favour by God? When faced with success, are we going to realize that God is The One who allowed our efforts to result into success? Or are we going to attribute it to our efforts or intelligence alone, and disregard the massive favour by God in the success?

When faced with a tribulation, are we going to blame God for not delivering goodness to us? Are we going to blame others for causing the hardship? Or are we going to reflect on ourselves and realize our own shortcomings, return to God and ask for His Forgiveness, Intervention and Guidance?
