Heart

The state of the heart is like an ocean, isn't it? Sometimes it goes up, sometimes it goes down. Sometimes there's a tidal wave, strong current that stirs it up so tremendously that recovering would take a long, long time. And recovering itself is a long process.

Recovering is not a destination - we don't finally arrive at recovering. Because the strong currents aren't one-time events either. Sometimes it comes unexpectedly and intrusively, hence recovering is a continuous process that we keep on doing - like a cycle. And improving is part of the recovering process, whether internal or external improvements, depending on the damages occurred during the currents.

Internal improvements like the spiritual ones are capable of healing even the deepest wounds, and when paired with improvements on knowledge, could result into wisdom. Improving our spiritual self is essential in healing as we're more than just a physical being. The soul in our spiritual self needs healing, just like our physical body when contracted with viral infections. Much like how our white blood cells would consume a virus in order to carry it out of our system, our spiritual self also needs 'white blood cells' - guidance - in order to carry the darkness away. Without guidance, we'd still be consumed by darkness which clouds our mind and heart, and eventually affecting our physical well-being. Indeed our self is made up of a much more complex system than we think. Mind, heart, soul, the physical body.

Improvements of only one dimension is good, but improvements of the whole is even better.

On a personal note, the spiritual improvement is what I need the most at the moment. Sometimes I feel frustrated with myself for allowing my faith to sink towards the bottom, but the reality is that no one experiences a state of high level of faith at all times. It's impossible. Faith itself is constituted of many factors, and if one dimension of the self experiences corruption, then faith would also be affected.

The state of the heart is like an ocean, isn't it?

Never still, always changing.
