Lord, teach me

Prayers upon prayers
One after the other
Day and night
Uttered in privacy
Between a slave and Her Lord.

Small deeds, big gratitude
Something magnifies the happiness
She then ponders,
"How could something small,
Give profound happiness?".

Her Lord said,
"When you're grateful,
I'll give you more"
So she begged,
"Then teach me, Lord
How to be grateful to You."

Slowly, her perspective changed
She appreciates small gestures of kindness
Small signs of happiness
Small achievements
Small milestones.

Her life changed
And continues to change
And with Her Lord by her side,
She's not afraid anymore.

"Lord, teach me how to be your slave,
For we are slaves to what we love,
And Your Love is what my heart yearns for."
